Een zoet-zure, met broodkruim gebonden en met hard gekookte eidooiers gevulde saus, die zijn naam ontleent aan de komijn waarmee deze is gekruid. In de regel wordt er ook saffraan aan toegevoegd.

A sweet-and-sour sauce, thickened with breadcrumb and filled with hardboiled eggs. Name derived from the cumin used for flavouring. Also usually contains saffron.

 Distillaat van de bladeren van de Scabiosa Arvensis ook genoemd Knautia Arvensis (ook scabiouswater).Ook scabieuse, schurftkruid of honingbloem geheten.

Distillation obtained from the Field Scabious.

It is abundant throughout Britain, flowering best, however, on chalk, and very frequent in meadows, hedgerows or amidst standing corn, where its large blossoms, of a delicate mauve, render it very conspicuous and attractive. The name Scabious is supposed to be connected with the word 'scab' (a scaly sore), a word derived from the Latin scabies (a form of leprosy), for which and for other diseases of a similar character, some of these species were used as remedies.
